Japan successfully launced Hinode (solar-B) solar observational satellite

Everything is perfect! Solar-B and its vehicle M-V-7 rocket have been successfully launced from Uchinoura Space Center (USC/JAXA). The spacecraft was put in the planned orbit. It has been named Hinode, which means sunrise in Japanese. All status of the spacecraft including solar panel power, atitude, temperatures of instruments, and ultra fine Sun sensor (UFSS) are nominal.

The Janus/Epimetheus Ring: A new diffuse ring, coincident with the orbits of Saturn's moon's Janus and Epimetheus, has been revealed in ultra-high phase angle views from Cassini. Ultra-high phase angle indicates the sun is behind the target.

This picture of unidentified possible small debris was recorded with a digital still camera by astronaut Daniel Burbank onboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis around 11 a.m. (CDT) today. Engineers do not believe this to be the same object seen in video taken by shuttle TV cameras earlier in the day.
